To date, California has not passed any laws regulating education or requiring licensing in the field of permanent cosmetics. Unfortunately, it is not uncommon to see inferior work from poorly trained technicians who offer low prices by cutting corners. Since most permanent makeup technicians work in hair, nail, or skincare salons and have no medical background, the risk to consumers is legitimate. (Hepatitis B can be transmitted with only 0.00004 ml of blood that can live for over 2 months on contaminated surfaces such as needles, tattoo machines, counters, chairs, and tables.) With extensive scientific and medical education plus 26 years of patient care experience, Dr. Laura’s infection control standards are ingrained and unsurpassed.
